A bag of homemade crackers, simply tied to a custom-labelled bottle, takes the gift of wine to another level.
For the Crackers - All you need is:
Lamb Brand Plain Flour 1 cup
Lamb Brand Fennel Seed 2 teaspoons, crushed
Lamb Brand Table Salt 1/2 teaspoon
Lamb Brand Ground Black Peper 1/8 teaspoon
Lamb Brand Cooking Salt (optional)
Dry White Wine 3 tablespoons
Olive Oil 3 tablespoons
For Bottle Wrapping - All you need is:
Wine Bottle
Holiday Label
Cellophane Bag
Paper Bake Cup
Ribbon
For the Crackers - All you have to do is:
1. Preheat oven to 170 degrees.
2. In a bowl, combine flour, fennel seed, salt, and pepper.
3. In another bowl, combine wine and olive oil; gradually add to dry ingredients, tossing with a fork until combined.
4. Form dough into a ball.
5. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a 30cm x 23cm rectangle, about 2mm thick (trim uneven edges, if necessary).
6. Using a fork, prick dough all over.
7. Using a pastry wheel or knife, cut into 7cm x 3.5cm rectangles.
8. Transfer rectangles to an ungreased baking sheet. If desired, sprinkle lightly with cooking salt.
9. Bake about 18 minutes or just until crackers start to brown and are firm to the touch.
10. Cool completely on wire racks.
For Bottle Wrapping - All you have to do is:
1. Choose your favorite bottle of white wine and remove the label.
2. Create your own holiday label using a computer and printer.
3. Place crackers inside a paper bake cup and set the liner inside a cellophane bag.
4. Tie the bag with a ribbon.
5. Tie the ribbon to the top of the bottle.
